| Comments: | Hey Mark, Mitch of St Cloud State here. I sent you an e-mail about setting up a BeerDarts mat and not sure if you got it. I'm having trouble getting this mat together.
I'm going to be at the Final Five again, and this year I"m really trying to get a beer dart mat together so St Cloud will be represented. Last year I e-mailed you about how to go about setting a beer dart mat up. I've got everything together except the actual mat. I've tried Feet Farm, Home Depot, Menards, etc. No one seems to carry them. Is there another alternative type of carpet I could use in its place? I've got the stands made, stencils ready, darts bought, and the spray paint on hand, I just need the mat now. Hope to hear back from you soon. Can't wait for thursday!!! Go Huskies!!! |

| Comments: | Thanks for all the extra info you offered on putting a mat together, and different versions that include more people!! This is sooo much fun to do at a football party, I was happy to see all of the information I wanted to give my buddy!! I think we might form teams and run all season, culminating in a "Super Beerdart Bowl"!!

| Comments: | ONE beer?! Y'all don't know how to play. Here's how we do it...
Two people to each team, build a pyramid of beers in between the two team members of each team (we've done up to 16 in a pyramid). When a beer is hit and punctured, you shotgun it. You can either use two different kinds of beer so half you know are for one member and the other half are for the other member (ex: Budweiser and Canadian in one pyramid, half and half), OR just alternate between hits (you shotgun one, I shotgun the next). Rearrange the pyramid as the beers get hit. Cheers!!!
BEERDARTS reply: it doesn't have to be a sprint, it can be a marathon |

| Comments: | I was just at the WCHA Final Five tailgating party this weekend and I saw the Gopher and Michigan Tech fans had customer made mats representing their schools. I'm a St.Cloud State grad and when I asked them about where to go to get one made, they told me to come to this site. How would I go about getting a St.Cloud State Huskies Beerdart mat made? I had a blast this last weekend, and playing Beerdarts with the fans was the highlight of it all. |

| Comments: | Your rules are a little bit weak compared to our prairie rules. Usually its a team game, 5 beer to split between 2 people for one round. Place one beer in between teammates, shake it up a bit. Designate a "pouncer". There is a poor pounce rule. Must drink extra beer if its a terrible pounce. Using a single dart, its a back and forth play style. One team goes then the other, no player can shoot twice. A hit counts as one point. A topper (anywhere inside the rim of the beer) is two points. Games go to 5 but you must win by two. No official distance between opponents has been set but usually it is anywhere from 6-9 feet apart. Tings count as nothing but a group shake of the beer will happen to make sure beer isnt punctured. Average afternoon of darts usually consists of 25-60. Depending on good/terrible you are. Also winners stay unless they want a break. Losing team gets to throw first. There is another set of rules for two dart beer darts but that will have to wait.
BEERDARTS reply: to each his own, everyone always feels their version of the game is best, and that's ok. I've always felt shaking up the can was an odd/obvious way to make it "exciting" but wastes a lot of beer, and I for one want to drink my beer not have it shoot all over the ground. A good day of tailgating will see about 12 beers per person in 3 hours prior to game time, unless one does multi-can. |

| Comments: | Great game but we modified it a bit. We try to get 3 people per team, and each team gets a case. The other team holds your team's beer, and you shake it and throw it to them. It leads to fun explosions and people can get covered in beer. We designate a kill line for each type of beer, and if you hit below that you have to chug it. We allow you to shoot if you are still drinking, but if you get up to 3 cans you are on time out until you catch up. Also, the use of sidearms is highly encouraged in case your can doesn't get hit for awhile. |

| Comments: | When we played last time I came up with an easy way of scoring. Try it out. A “kill” happens when your opponent is finished, either by ticks, three holes, penalty, or other circumstance resulting in an empty beer. When you have “killed” your opponent he/she must give you their can tab. Tabs represent the amount of “kills” you have.

| Comments: | 8. if no outdoor venue is available hotel rooms work well as a backup arena. this method is not recommended in yours or your friends home and you must be prepared to check out early the next day.
9. once one team reaches ten points, the other team is allowed to throw one round of darts with the possibility of tying the game or scoring a point or two for respect (pulling the goalie)
10. should rule# 9 result in a tie there will be an overtime round. Overtime can be played in one of two ways:
a)Shootout. First unanswered point wins.
b)extra inning. First team to 5 points wins. for inexperienced players or back to back games the extra inning may be reduced accordingly.
disclaimer... Any spelling or grammatical errors are not because we are Canadian but do to the fact that that we picked up 56 empty beer cans off of our lawn this morning between 4 players. also it is not uncommon for player to unintentionally discharge the contents of their stomach during play but are expected to |

| Comments: | After reviewing your rules we decided to share with the beer darting community the Canadian version of beer darts.
1. each player has 3 darts which are thrown consecutively (In teams of 2, 6 darts are in play
2. cans are played unopened and a hit = shotgunned beer by corresponding owner
3. a hit only counts if beer is pierced, there are no ticks as our beers are not opened until the dart pierces the can.
4. size of field varies but is a minimum of 15feet which is definitely guesstimated.
5. a game plays till one team (team may consist of more than one player) reaches 10 hits.
6. if game ends with darts remaining the shotgunned beer is replaced and winning team is allowed to shoot the remaining darts, possibly further embarrassing their opponents. this has been dubbed the ''empty net'' shot
7. as we do not use official mats after 5 points are scored by any one team the teams switch sides of the field eliminating any unfair advantages created by hills, sun, wind etc.
8. if no out |

| Comments: | We play with slightly different rules, teams of two, two cans per team, puncture means is shotgun (unopened beers), first to 5 wins. Toppers count as two (both team mates chug full beer). Ticks mean you shake the beer to confirm it isn't a puncture. |

| Comments: | I question the origin of the game in Minneapolis. I and some friends of mine from rural, way outstate MN have been playing a variation of the game (Drink until the beer stops leaking or it's gone) since the mid 90s and we learned it from older kids. I suspect it may have been imported from the farm to Minneapolis where it picked up additional fanbases.
BEERDARTS REPLY: undoubtedly the concept of BeerDarts is as old as a dart and a can, but this version, with MATS and HOLDERS and these specific rules, is definitly my gig. |

Now we play every year when some of us visit him for Cubs spring training games. We play at every ST ballpark but HoHoKam in Mesa is the best since it has a huge grass parking area. I made my own cardboard props since one of our ST games was Diablo Stadium in Tempe and it didn't have any grassy area to play. This way the tips didn't get dulled from hitting the pavement. |

in our version we got two teams of two
-put the beer in between the players on each side
-shake up your can
-when it gets hit you have to chug (shotgun) the whole thing right away and the two people on the team take turns on who drinks it
-if you hit the other persons can above the top lip, both of the opposing team has to shotgun the beer
-good drunkin times, beers go by fast this way |

Thanks, my buddy Dan from SD (see down aways) taught a group of people at WeFest two years ago and they did the BD circle there, obviously the "rules" got bent a bit do do that. Glad to hear it is still going there! -Inventor |

I love this web site. I've sent it to countless Badger Fans. All of the Gopher fans that I send it to bookmark it. I first heard about this web site on the P.A. and Dubay show shortly before the frozen four. I've been following Gopher hockey since Butsy Erickson etc. ie. my earliest memories are of Gopher Hockey and falling asleep to Al Shaver calling a North Stars/Blackhawks game on a school night...Secord Sucks and Sevard is a weasel. Thankyou for all of your hard work, it is truly appreciated. I Love The Photos....I e-mail them all over the place.
Thanks again,

Finally got it up and running!! The pics are sweet, except I don't see myself in any of them. Perhaps a pic of the time I bottom-holed you and Dubay back-to-back? Oh was I on fire for those 2 minutes :) |
